Mori Kouran wanted him to be a emotionless machine that will do anything he says. Of note is that this spans the time between he arrives at ~4 until he was ~16. Constant training to fight and fight and remove all emotions. He doesn't have his scar yet.

Losing to Recca(until he passes out on page 13 of 155) (#6)

Getting yelled at by Recca, finding out his name, his mask shattering. Something about their relationship has a lot to do with the past--which he kind of knew because of the timewarp memory. Reluctant admiration of Recca. He can use fire: it's warm and comfortable and doesn't hurt. He asks for strength from "Jisho" and "Kurenai", both of whom support him from--within? There is definitely pain and sadness, but the knowledge of support from them when he thinks about them. "Heist" is visible, along with other people in the periphery. Recca can use flame too, and he is knocked out.
